Fine quality, solid mahogany, bureau bookcase by Waring and Gillow of Lancaster. The top with 2 arch shaped glazed doors enclosing solid mahogany adjustable shelves. The base with 2 drawers of a good, dovetailed construction with solid mahogany linings and the 'Waring and Gillow' stamp and label. The interior with mahogany letter files and leathered writing area, and with 2 good quality working brass locks and the original brass handles

Description:
Early Georgian walnut bureau bookcase. The top with pull out candle slides, internal drawers and adjustable shelves behind mirrored doors. The base with hinged fall enclosing numerous drawers, pigeon holes and sliding well above 5 drawers with feather banding, standing on bracket feet. All drawers with hand-cut dovetails and oak linings. The top possibly not original to the base. W.A.R.
